REF-FM Kyangwali 102.6 is a community-based radio station established through a partnership between the REF FM Foundation and Action Africa Help International (AAH), and supervised locally by HAF Uganda. The station operates within Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, one of Uganda’s largest refugee-hosting areas.
Run by and for refugees and host communities, REF-FM aims to inspire listeners to become active, informed, and self-reliant members of society. As a fast-growing platform, the station delivers positive, relevant content focused on daily life, opportunities, and community development, while fostering unity and shared identity. With ambitious growth plans, REF-FM seeks to build a strong team of young media practitioners, expand its audience reach, and become a trusted voice within the settlement and beyond.
Our Audience
Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, originally established in the 1960s, hosts a diverse population of over 125,000 refugees, primarily from Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Sudan, alongside Ugandan host communities. REF-FM serves this vibrant and multicultural population by providing accessible, inclusive, and community-centered information that reflects their experiences, needs, and aspirations.
