Hopelink Action Foundation (HAF Uganda) participated alongside the Ministry of Education and Sports in an Education in Emergencies (EiE) Response Plan monitoring mission in Lamwo District, specifically in Palabek Refugee Settlement. This mission aimed at assessing the progress, effectiveness, and challenges of education interventions implemented to support refugee and host community learners in emergency settings.
The monitoring exercise provided an opportunity to engage directly with schools, teachers, learners, and community stakeholders to better understand the realities on the ground. Key focus areas included access to education, quality of learning, availability of teaching and learning materials, and the overall well-being of both learners and educators within the settlement.
HAF Uganda contributed to the mission by supporting data collection, community engagement, and documentation of key findings and recommendations. The team also observed the resilience of learners and the commitment of teachers working under challenging conditions to ensure continuity of education.
The visit highlighted both achievements and gaps within the education response, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration among government agencies, development partners, and community-based organizations. Issues such as overcrowded classrooms, limited resources, and the psychosocial needs of learners were identified as critical areas requiring sustained attention.

Through its involvement, HAF Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all, especially in emergency and refugee contexts. The organization continues to advocate for strengthened education systems that are responsive to the needs of vulnerable populations and capable of withstanding future crises.
